Classmates,
This is a recent email from John Burkman, our classmate. He continues his fight against cancer. Please keep him and
his wife, Nancy, in your prayers.
"I know I have not kept in touch like I should have and after looking at some of the pictures from the reunion in Panama, I wish I would have felt good enough to make it.
Last month my PT/CT scan showed my cancer has spread to my liver. I have a Radio Frequency Ablation procedure scheduled for the 15th. They are going to take a larger piece out to biopsy before they "Burn" the tumor and I will be admitted to the hospital for a day or two.
I also started radiation this week of one of the larger cancerous lymph nodes in my chest that has grown so much that it is pressing on my wind pipes giving me the sensation that I cannot breath. It makes me want to go into a panic attack because I feel I am not getting any oxygen. We have increased my pain meds to a point I do not feel that I want to do anything but sit down and rest or sleep.
I would really like to see everyone again at the reunion but I do not know if I will be able to make the trip.
Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers,
John"
